Arrival to Chile

Well, we are here in chile safe and sound (not that I was worried or anything). We landed about 7:10 this morning after viewing a beautiful sunrise from 35,000 feet in the air. Entering the country was relatively smooth aside from a few produce complications and misinterpretations of baggage destinations. While standing in the airport, I found it interesting on how quiet it was compared to the amount of people that were present. I think in America, a situation similar to that would be much louder and more hectic, however in Chile it was rather calm and reserved. Says something for the manners of the people of Chile I suppose. The hotel is just what I expected, small, quaint, and enough for what I need it for. Vina del Mar is an interesting city from what I've seen. The mountainous landscape and brightly painted buildings leads to a aestheically pleasing mottled cascade of a city. I am interested to see what Santiago looks like in a few days; we didnt really get to see much of it today. We attended a soccer, or futbol game rather, in the afternoon. The energy in the stadium, although small, was electric. It amazes me how much spirit that the locals had for their team. I actually really enjoyed it. For dinner we went to a local restaurant for empinadas which were pretty awesome. It was nice to have a sit down meal with some of the other kids on the trip and shoot the breeze for a while. I'm not really sure what awaits me tomorrow so I guess you'll just have to wait and see.
